If you travel abroad, you may purchase different excursions from your travel agent or you may buy them when you are already on the spot. Your tour operator will probably provide you with exotic shows and sightseeing. But when you have already settled in the hotel, visited shows and found out there is still much time to spend, go to the zoo and have fun. Some may say ¡°We¡¯ve got a large zoo at home (in our native city)¡±. But a zoo in your country may differ from a zoo abroad greatly. So don¡¯t cancel an excursion to the zoo at once. If you travel with a child, be sure he will be happy.
In most cases resorts have got zoos. Of course you had better ask people around (who have visited the zoo) if twenty dollars are worth going seeing animals, but at most zoos you won¡¯t be disappointed. The matter is that most adults (not to say anything of kids) get so excited while watching animals scratching their noses, making faces, eating bananas, running anxiously around, etc.
Most of the world zoos now offer so many opportunities. Apart from traditional walking around the visitors may get a bus tour or a car tour, a railroad tour. It is possible to have a snack (or a complete dinner with refreshments) at zoo restaurant or caf¨¦, to attend shows (like crocodile, elephant, lion, snake or dolphin show), to take pictures with animals (even the wild ones), to feed them. What is more, some zoos organize birthday parties (usually for children, but if you ask¡), overnight family camping, wild adventure rides, watching movies and many others. In the zoo you may also enjoy watching butterflies in the butterfly garden or go to aquarium, take part in African safari. When you leave the zoo, don¡¯t forget to buy a souvenir in the gift shop.
As for the animals, most zoos have buffalos, leopards, camels, foxes, wolves, bears, elephants, monkeys, rhinoceros, lions, capybaras, zebras, seals, jaguars, tapirs, oxen, deer, kangaroos, pumas, pandas, giraffes, lemurs, tigers, hyenas, turtles, iguanas, snakes, crocodiles, etc. As for the birds, very popular are eagles, flamingos, doves, parrots, owls, swans, cranes, emus, penguins, Mandarin ducks, vultures. In some exotic zoos one may find tarantulas, scorpions, spiders and various fishes.
If you are still not sure whether to go to the zoo or not, visit the web site of the zoo (most of zoos have them now) and see what is waiting for you. Most of sites present pictures of animals, animals lists, tell you about the zoo, about the things to do in the zoo, events, etc. It is also possible to book tickets online. So go to the zoo and have fun!
