Yellowstone National Park is the oldest on the planet. Its location on top of a volcanic crater has resulted in a unique landscape of geysers, fumaroles, mud pots, alpine lakes and canyons. Those who enjoy the outdoors will find a wealth of recreational activities among the breathtaking scenery. Yellowstone provides endless opportunities for climbers, hikers and fishers.

Yellowstone Natl Park is known for its steaming geysers, crystalline lakes, thundering waterfalls, and panoramic vistas. No matter how many times you return to Yellowstone, you will always find something new and different to enjoy in this 2.2 million-acre wonderland of scenery, wildlife and geologic wonders.  Created in 1872, this was the first national park established in America. It is larger than the states of Rhode Island and Delaware combined and lies in the states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.

The park crosses the Continental Divide three times and has 350 miles of paved road winding through the park. Since July and August have the most traffic, you may want to plan your trip during the slower months. September and October are wonderful months to visit.  This is a quieter time in the park and you may find some fall colors in early October. If you can get into Yellowstone Natl Park in spring in May or June, you will find plenty of wildlife ? many newborns. Winter is magical and from mid-December to mid-March, the park is open to over snow vehicles. During these bitter cold months, wildlife gathers around the warm thermal areas where geysers and steam rise in eerie mists and everything is covered with ice and snow.

Walking or wading a river or stream is a fabulous way to enjoy the Yellowstone area's fishing opportunities. In fact, since floating is not allowed, this is the only way to fish the moving waters in Yellowstone Natl Park. Full and half-day walk trips are very flexible in nature, and allow you to plan your dream trip. A full day trip allows you to sample the fishing on one or more rivers. wade trip destinations include the Madison, Firehole, Gallatin, Lamar, and Yellowstone Rivers, as well as Slough Creek and other small streams. Because you receive personal attention from the guide, walk trips are ideal for beginning anglers or those who wish to improve their fly-fishing skills. The small lakes and ponds of Yellowstone Natl Park offer rare opportunities to catch cutthroats and grayling Fees include a guide, lunch and equipment!

There is no better way to experience Yellowstone's backcountry than a pack trip. Only this extended adventure affords you enough time to travel into the deepest reaches of Yellowstone's wilderness. On horseback, you can cover more ground and see more of Yellowstone's most remote wonders. With more than 3,740 square miles, Yellowstone Natl Park is so vast that many of its greatest treasures remain unseen by all but a few individuals. Pack trips provide you with two well-informed guides, pack mules to carry your personal belongings, a good horse, a good saddle, big saddle bags, a four season tent, and three square meals per day. Most of all, trips provide you with memories that will last a lifetime! There simply is no better way to see Yellowstone Natl Park.

Nowadays almost all national parks offer pack trips. World famous Yosemite Natl Park, one of the country's premier national parks, which receives millions of visitors each year, is not an exception. Yosemite Natl Park is home to the biggest piece of exposed granite in the world, some of the highest waterfalls, and giant redwoods that are among the tallest and oldest trees on earth. All these beauties may be explored during pack trip. Do not forget your camera!
