Added: 06/21/2006

Bordeaux is the capital of Aquitaine region, France, and, at the same time, a place where people produce one of the most famous and tasty wines in the world. You can make sure of this if visit these magnificent places and remarkable landscapes. During its long history France was always known as the country where a great number of wines was made, and those wines were always the best. France offers Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne wines to you choice, their flavors being perfectly unique.

In Bordeaux you can find not only wine in spite of the fact that this is the main production line of the city.  There are more than 100 000 students there who study and create modern developments in such branches of science as nanotechnology, aeronautics researching and construction.  So, it is not only an aesthetic area, it is also the city of up-to-date technologies and machinery.

This city was found by a Celtic tribe in 300 BC; since then a long history of difficult and cruel wars and battles began.  As for wine - one of the great attractions of the region - it was first produced in the 8th century.  In the 18th century most foreign countries around the world understood and evaluated the French wines, and since those times tourists in Bordeaux never vanish.

Tourism is constantly increasing in this region, and nowadays over 3 million visitors come to Bordeaux every year.  A lot of attention attract various festivals in Bordeaux, as they are always different, funny and distinguish from the rest around the world.  There are Novart, Mira and Wine festivals, which take place through a year, and you have a real chance to see at least one celebration if visit the province.

Bordeaux inhabitants, indeed, know how to have fun and their entertainment usually lasts 4 days through the Wine festival.  It is an amazing show, and though its history is not too long - only 5 years - it becomes more and more grandiose and fantastic every new year.  If you are seriously disposed to visit this event try not to miss the start of the festival.  Actually, the festival of Bordeaux can be celebrated almost in all countries of our world, because this wine is very widespread due to its flavor, which attracts the great part of the world's population.

It is very easy to get to the city.  Especially by plane.  Bordeaux flights are available from the United Kingdom and a lot of other countries.  The flight will take you only two hours from Britain.  From Birmingham the ticket costs from 28 Euros, from Manchester it will start from 45 Euros.  So, you can find cheap flights and have wonderful vacations with the delightful gastronomy of the French cuisine.

Besides, you will be able to visit the local museums and cinemas in Bordeaux.  Actually, this city was the first in France to organize an architecture exhibition and research centre in 1980s.  The range of museums is very wide.  You can visit Musee des Beaux Arts, Casa de Goya, Vinorama and a lot of others.  The life is boiling up there, and you may join the French people who celebrate every day in spite of each day's duties and commitments.

But though Bordeaux is a very interesting city itself, it is still the place where the majority of the best French wines are produced.  All people around the world know that France is the country where people know the secret of wine producing, and it is really so, because you can try to make wine yourself, but be sure it will be far from Bordeaux.  You can find this wine in your country, but it will never be the same, as if you try it in France where this beverage belongs to and where the flavor is mixed with the history and traditions, which gives additional attraction to the drink.
