Wedding and honeymoon test and statistics

Added: 11/28/2005

When you have made your wedding preparations carefully, treating each detail of it, it is high time to give much thought to your honeymoon, the second important part of your wedding. A honeymoon is a holiday of your family life, the start of a "newly-made" married couple and it should be the same wonderful and memorable event as your wedding. In fact, our planet is full of magnificent places to spend your honeymoon, but .....where to go and what to do? This is the most intricate question.

Actually, a wedding and honeymoon are inseparable from each other and you should give them an equal consideration and a thought. Count each detail and enjoy your planning, since it is a honeymoon, you and your spouse will remember forever. Certainly, there will be more honeymoons to celebrate your wedding anniversaries, though the first is the best ever. If you answer the following test questions, it will be your guide for planning both: your wedding and honeymoon.

1) Do you want to have your wedding and honeymoon at the same location? Would you better have a wedding at home and plan a honeymoon trip?
2) How long do you want to go for? Do you want to be away for two weeks or only a few days?
3) How much do you want to spend? Is that a price to include extras like food and drink? Would you prefer a beach holiday or not?
4) What do you want to do? Do you prefer to spend your time lying in the sun or to have a more active holiday? What do both of you like to do more?
5) Where in the world do you want to be? Your destination quite often depends on your budget and your duration. (Define at least three options to compare)
6) Check out things like the weather for the time of the year; and whether there is a need for visas, vaccinations and other requirements.

When you have finished with this test, think and find the information and reviews about weddings and honeymoons in the locations you have determined and define the most appropriate place for your wedding and honeymoon. In order to make your choice somehow easier, we would like you to become acquainted with wedding and honeymoon statistics showing the most popular options.

The most popular months for weddings to take place are, in this order: June, August, May, July, September, October, December, November/April (tie), February, March and January. As you see, the most popular ones are the summer months; however, winter is excellent if you would plan an untraditional wedding like a ski theme wedding or found the places, where it is warm in winter - fortunately there are many of them.

What concerns general honeymoon statistics, ninety nine percent take a honeymoon among couples, who choose a traditional wedding,. Honeymoons comprise an eight billion-dollar-a-year industry in the US. Couples spend an average of three thousand and seven hundred dollars on their honeymoon. That is three times as much as an average U.S. adult spends on a vacation!

The honeymoon, on average, accounts for fourteen percent of the wedding budget. The length of an average honeymoon is eight days. Ten percent of newlyweds take cruises for their honeymoon. Thirty seven percent of honeymoon trips are to domestic locations; sixty three percent are foreign. Forty percent of honeymooners will stay at a resort vs. twenty seven percent at a large hotel vs. ten percent at a small hotel

Ten percent of marriages are destination weddings. The leading destinations for out-of-town weddings are: (Figures in parentheses indicate a number of weddings, performed annually.) Las Vegas (125,000), Hawaii (20,000), the U.S. Virgin Islands (5,100) Jamaica (5,000) and the Bahamas (4,000).
