This area provides an irresistible mix of spectacular mountains, tranquil lochs, tumbling crystal-clear streams, lonely glens and a magical seascape studded with romantic isles. The combination of these natural wonders with the wealth of clan folklore and the significant historic events which have taken place hereabouts makes this part of Scotland one to capture the imagination.
Guided walking tours are based on tours at Onich, a tiny coastal village which lies on the shore of Loch Linnhe at the entrance to historic Glen Coe, site of the infamous massacre of the MacDonald clan in 1692. The new Glen Coe Visitor Centre has some excellent interpretive displays and a walking tour is finished on both 'Easy' and 'Moderate' itineraries with a visit to the Centre.
Both tours will visit beautiful Glen Nevis and the Steall Falls in the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain; walk along the lonely Lairigmor as it snakes through the Mamores; and savour the unique brooding atmosphere and magnificent scenery of Glen Coe.
The 'Easy' tour will also enjoy a section of the Great Glen Way alongside the famous Caledonian Canal and Neptune's Staircase, a visit to the Highland Museum in Fort William, and a walk to Hospital Lochan with its idyllic woodland setting and splendid views of Loch Linnhe and surrounding mountains, whilst the 'Moderate' tour will tackle the more challenging terrain of the Lairig Eilde with its stunning views of Glen Etive and Allt Coire Gabhail - the Lost Valley -once a hideout of cattle rustlers.
Be sure your walking tour to Glen Coe and western Highlands will be unforgettable with lots of pictures of nice views and smiles on your faces.
