Visit the largest and oldest air force museum in the world-The National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton,Ohio!The very location of the museum is legendary:Springfield Pike at historic Wright Field,Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The museum consists of the main building and the Presidential and R&D Hangars,which display over 300 aircraft and missiles of the wide range of historical periods,such as Early Years,World War 1,Inter War Years,World War 2,Korean War,Vietnam War,Cold War,Modern Flight and Space Flight.There are also children and family oriented programs at this aviation museum.The special Family Day program offers the opportunity to the people of all ages to spend a day in the Air Force Museum learning with their hands on.

museum.The special Family day program offers the opportunity to the people of all ages to spend a day in the Air Force Museum learning with their hands on.The program begins at 10.00a.m. with the tour on aviation history.At 11.30 a.m. the preschool and primary-grade children are gathered in the Modern Flight Gallery to listen to the aviation and space stories,sitting under the airplanes.Behind the Scenes Tours is another amazing program allowing to see the objects under restoration which are not exhibited.

     The National Museum of the United States Air Force does not only present rear and unique

items you would never find anywhere else,but also creates the comfortable environment for

examining them.The exhibitions at this air force museum are located within easy reach and are well identified,so you do not need guiding when touring.There is a café inside the museum and in the summer months picnic tables are available outdoors.

     The gift shop,bookstore,model and poster shops offer the variety of aviation-oriented goods to any taste.Photographing of the exhibits is permitted.

      The Presidential and R&D Hangars are located about one mile from the main museum complex and store about 50 aircraft.Now they are accessible only by bus which ply from the main building to the hangars.Moreover,you would better sign up as early as possible,because these excursions are extremely popular.Also it is important to mention that to be accepted to the Hangars the Government issued photo ID is required for US citizens,foreigners must have passport or Green Card(originals only).Children under 18 must be escorted by an adult:one adult per two children.

      One of the greatest attractions in the National Museum of the United States Air Force is the IMAX Theatre of course.IMAX is the best motion picture system in the world.This technology

comprises the film frame three times the size of the standard 70 mm frame and the six-channel

stereo sound system which creates the unforgettable impression of being at the center of the

movie action.

        By the main museum building the Memorial Park lies.Its valleys are decorated with statues,

plaques and trees dedicated to the prominent people,Air Force organizations and military units.

        Along with the exhibitions the air force museum has its research facility,preserving the range of USAF-related documents,such as aircraft drawings,photographs,prints and technical manuals.But,however,the public is not allowed to the archives.

       If you are an aviation enthusiast,you are welcome to join the membership program "Friends of the Air Force Museum".The members of this program get discounts in the gift shop and

bookstore,recieve newsletters and a Museum Calendar.

       This museum is not only the unique and breathtaking,but also absolutely free attraction!

The museum is open everyday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,closed three days a year only:on

Thanksgiving Day,Christmas Day and New Year's Day.In the IMAX Theatre shows are on
