The history of Vegas buffets in the United States of America is closely connected with Herb McDonald and the city of Las Vegas. The thing is that the prominent casino publicist introdused the idea in 1946 at the El Rancho, starting the development of the Vegas buffets. Usually they belonged to the casinos and opened each midnight. It was one more draw for the casino-players, and what a draw! For the price of 1.50$ only , you could taste shrimp and lobster, hors d'oeuvres, relish, salads, and sauces; crab, herring oyster, sturgeon, octopus, and salmon; turkey, ham, roast beef, casseroles, fondues, and curries; cheeses, fruits and pastries. Moreover, you could repeat the procedure of collecting food on your plate as many times as you wished , and it depended on your capacity only!
Of course, it might have been a terrible injustice to conceal such treasures as Vegas buffets from other people. So, soon the city was filled with these restaurants. Small and big, modern and old-fashioned, Vegas buffets enjoy great popularity.
Nowadays there are many forms of buffets in Las Vegas. Get aquainted to one of them: Customers walk along a line of food stallks and take everything they appreciate, and then pay at the end. This form is most commonly seen in cafeterias. Another form known as the "all you can eat" buffet in Las Vegas has a set fee and customers can help themselves to as much food as they wish. This form is found often in restaurants, especially in hotels. In plain words, the Vegas buffets can be found everywhere and it is not a problem to taste a delicious, nourishing and cheap dish.
