Valleyfair amusement park: a powerful draw during Minnesota's hot summer days

Added: 05/20/2006

Valleyfair Amusement Park is located in Shakopee, Minnesota, USA. The park features over 75 attractions and rides, including several roller coasters and a water park. Excalibur's dips and curves are considered the most stomach-churning of all roller coasters located at Valleyfair. Wild Thing has got one of the world's longest low-gravity zones. Steel Venom is a shuttle-type impulse coaster with a top speed of 102 kilometers per hour. Valleyfair's water park is a great way to chill out and have hours of wet fun in sunlight. A six-person raft ride, Thunder Canyon is one of the park's most popular attractions. In addition, the 90-acre park offers Ferris wheel and three especially-for-children designed areas, including Berenstein Bear Country. The major attractions at Valleyfair are its stomach-churning roller coasters and a wide array of water rides, a powerful draw during Minnesota's hot summer days.

Valleyfair Amusement Park is located in Shakopee, Minnesota, the United States of America.  Valleyfair Amusement Park opened in 1976 and is currently the largest amusement park in the Upper Midwest.  Valleyfair was originally themed as a Coney Island-styled turn of the century amusement park.  The park features over 75 attractions and rides, including several roller coasters and a water park.  At present, Valleyfair Amusement Park contains the following roller coasters: High Roller, Corkscrew, Excalibur, Mad Mouse, Wild Thing and Steel Venom.

High Roller, the park's oldest coaster, is 21 meters at the highest peak and has a top speed of 80 kilometers per hour.  The oldest all-steel coaster in Minnesota, it derives its name from the two-twist corkscrew segment.  This ride is 26 meters high and has a top speed of 80 kilometers per hour.  Excalibur's dips and curves are considered the most sickening of all roller coasters located at Valleyfair.  The ride is 32 meters high with a top speed of 88 kilometers per hour.

Mad Mouse roller coaster is 80 meters in height, with a top speed of 48 kilometers per hour.  Wild Thing has got one of the world's longest low-gravity zones.  A favorite for years, Wild Thing is Minnesota's tallest roller coaster and the state's only hypercoaster, with a 61-meter drop and a top speed of 118 kilometers per hour.  At last, Steel Venom is a shuttle-type impulse coaster with a maximum height of 56 meters and a top speed of 102 kilometers per hour.

Valleyfair's water park is a great way to calm down and have hours of wet fun under the sun.  Water rides are represented by The Flume, Thunder Canyon, The Wave, Hydroblaster.  The Flume is a log flume ride with a balcony over the Flume's splashdown pool where guests like to dine.  A six-person raft ride, Thunder Canyon invites visitors to get wet.  It is one of the park's most popular attractions.  The Wave, a large splashdown pool ride, shocks riders.  And all visitors are charmed with Hydroblaster, an enclosed water slide.  The water park is open May 28th to August 21st, weather permitting.

In addition, Valleyfair Amusement Park features a lot of attractions for families with little kids.  Games include Roll-a-Ball, The Guessing Game, Float Pitch, to name a few.  Also, a 90-acre park offers Ferris wheel and three areas designed especially for children, including Berenstein Bear Country.  An IMAX theatre with a six-story screen presents educational and entertaining films.  Music and dance shows are presented on the walkways and numerous stages.  Valleyfair Amusement Park is open May 14th to September 24th.

Valleyfair Amusement Park turns 30 and keeps on growing every year with new rides and attractions.  Thus, Power Tower and Xtreme Swing can be mentioned among Valleyfair's newest extreme rides.  It is hard to mention all attractions at Valleyfair Amusement Park, one of the largest amusement parks in the world.  Probably, those to be major at Valleyfair are its stomach-churning roller coasters and an array of water rides, a powerful draw during Minnesota's hot, long summer days.
