It is a comparatively young sport, which enjoys increasing popularity among adventurous tourists. There exist several different places worldwide where kitesurfing is particularly popular, like Australia and New Zealand.

Kitesurfing is a relatively new sport, which attracts more and more enthusiasts worldwide. However, very few people are aware of the hidden dangers the sport may entail. According to various surveys, since 2000, more than 17 people have been killed in accidents related to kitesurfing. Because of strong forces generated by wind gusts, kitesurfers can be easily dashed against buildings, water, or terrain, resulting in serious injuries or even death.
