On October 12, 1916 Harry F. Rentschler established the Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club as a result of his enthusiastic climb of the Blue Mountains a few months before. He was assisted by a group of men from the Reading, PA area. The Blue Mountain eagle's nest became the symbol of the club. Hikes, held in spring and fall, were destined for the Eagle's Nest, as well as some other prominent spots of the Blue Mountain. Read more »
