Each year the UK welcomes more than 22 million visitors from all over the world: individuals, families, groups, business visitors, people with special needs or interests. They come to some of the most dynamic cities in the world, enjoying the wealth of culture, the buzz of night life, world class international cuisine, and accommodation to suit all budgets.
They visit historic towns, picturesque rural villages, coastal ports and fishing villages set in hugely varied and beautiful countryside, each area with its own character and charm. They visit castles, stately homes, gardens, ancient archaeological sites, national parks and wildlife reserves.
The Great Britain is very well served with domestic UK flights. If you are building air travel into your itinerary, some research into prices and services is important. The longest internal UK flights are no more than an hour and a half, just enough time to get comfortable with a paper, a coffee and a snappy breakfast.

Another major internal airline is British Midland which offers its own pre-bought airpass for overseas visitors. Check that you can purchase these passes in your country before you arrive. They are not obtainable in most of Europe and several other countries.
Ryan Air and Easy-Jet are two of the largest low cost airlines in the UK offering internal services; and Scots Airways connects Scottish cities such as Dundee and Aberdeen with Glasgow and Edinburgh and provides services to London. If you plan a trip to the capital of the Great Britain, you should know that most international London flights arrive at Heathrow Airport. Heathrow is the busiest airport in the world. Every year upwards of 60 million people pass through its portals. It is so large it is actually 4 separate airports, or terminals, with a fifth planned. Be sure you know which terminal your flight will land at or depart from.
London Gatwick is the second airport in the UK, Situated 48km south of the city. There are two terminals and links to the city are by taxi, train and bus. Gatwick Express trains has a journey time of Approximately 30 minutes non-stop to Victoria Station in central London.
London City airport serves major European cities. Situated 10km east of Central London this small airport is in most part used by the business traveler. It has taxi, train or helicopter transport connections to the city center. A shuttle bus connects the airport with Liverpool Street station.
Small regional airports in the UK also run excellent services and are easy to get through to onward destinations. National Express Airport coach services connect seven major UK airports with towns and cities across the country.
