Passport valid for at least six months from date of arrival in Turkey is required by all, except some countries, like France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and lot of others, who can enter with a national ID card (which must have a validity of one year).
In Turkish Embassy the first thing that you should ask whether you need visa or not. Applicants should contact the nearest Turkish Embassy or Consulate to learn their visa requirements and procedures.
Nationals of European Union countries for stays of up to three months must apply to the Turkish Embassy to obtain a tourist visa a minimum of six weeks prior to departure. Applicants should contact the relevant Turkish Embassy in person, by mail or by a courier service.
Visas issued upon entry are valid for three months. Visas for longer stays and for study, research or employment must be obtained in advance. If you are a Passenger in transit through Turkey and you do not leave your port of transit then you do not require visas.
The cost of visas depends on many things, like the lengths of the stay, the nationality. Working visa costs £75. Transit (up to three months) is £27. If you are going to study in Turkey then you have to pay £72. If you need tourists visa then it will costs you £36, but it is multy-entry and it is up to three months. And note that some visas should be obtained in advance and you should find out all information from Turkish Embassy in your country.
After you have found information concerning visas, you have to plan such things as flights and hotels. All major airlines have flights to the capital of Turkey, Istanbul. There is a wide range of accommodation from Turkey's best luxury hotels, to high quality four-star, special category and guesthouses (bed and breakfast).
