Try Gruyere cheese: the king of Swiss cheeses

Have you ever been to Switzerland? Have you seen its landscapes, sceneries and views? They are amazing, saturated with the aroma of flowers and the fresh air. Even if you have never been there you can feel this all when taste Switzerland Gruyere cheese. It personifies the country, its all parts, areas and places where people make a wonderful full-flavored cheese with its unique peculiarity.

Gruyere cheese was called so after the place where it was first made.  It doesn't differ from other cheeses, for example, Wisconsin cheese or Gammelost, as regards this part of its history.  But it definitely deserves particular attention due to its other characteristics.  Gruyere cheese is made of unpasteurized cow's milk.  The texture of this tasty cheese is pressed and hard.  It gets a sharper flavor when cured longer.  Like other cheeses, Gruyere cheese has a wide range of flavors, which depend on aging period.  When it is young it may seem creamy and nutty; as the cheese is aged a little it acquires a more assertive and earthy taste.  It is interesting to know that when Gruyere is fully aged, over 5 months, it gets holes, which are not observed when it is young.

Gruyere Switzerland is the most famous cheese in the country distinguished by unique peculiarities.  When you put a slice of cheese into your mouth it tastes nutty, slightly sweet; but then it suddenly turns mushroom-like.  And this feeling Gruyere evokes is unprecedented.  Besides a great flavor, people agree that Gruyere cheese is the finest for cooking.  There are a lot of recipes, which need Gruyere.  Actually, you can try to cook something yourself, without a recipe.  It is not so difficult as it may seem.  In fact, Gruyere is a well-melting cheese and thus, it is good for fondues or various French soups, which people like not only in Switzerland, but everywhere in the world.  You can meet these recipes in the USA, Russia and even in Polynesia.

The colour of this cheese is dark yellow.  The most exciting flavor it has when aged during 12 months.  Actually, this cheese is almost the only Swiss cheese, which is well-known around the world.  But this fact does not mean that other cheeses of Switzerland are bad; it only means that you need to go to this wonderful country yourself and delight tasty full-flavored cheeses of the state.  All of them are made in accordance with special recipes and people in Switzerland don't want some other countries to know their secrets.  You may get really great feelings from cheese tasting only in the country itself. 

When serving cheese you certainly should not forget about wine.  What is the dinner without drinks?  Chardonnay, Sauvignon Bland, Claret or Champagne may become a perfect match to Gruyere cheese.  Gruyere cheese can be also used with salads and pastas or as a separate meal, with slices of bread.  So, the options of Gruyere use are numerous, owing to its perfect specifications.  Never forget to try something new, there are so many sorts of cheese in the world that people cannot even count them all.  Some resemble each other, others are unique and special, like Gruyere.  So, don't refuse your wishes and taste the King of Swiss cheeses - you won't be disappointed.
