The most famous custom yachts company is Le Comte company, opened in New Rochelle, New York in 1954. The beginning of its activity was sale of semi-custom yachts to American customers. The first Le Comte boats were 33' Malabar Senior sloops and 42' Nordfarer yawls, followed by the finishing of Halmatic-moulded 38' Challenger yawls. In 1994 the Dutch part of the company was closed.
