Travel and tourism marketing includes, in general two types of marketing itself. They are: domestic marketing expressed in promoting travel inside the country and international marketing, which is actually promoting your destination to a world wide market.
Though domestic travel and tourism marketing is significant part, much more attention is paid for international travel and tourism marketing. In order to promote domestic travel, travel associations host and participate in a series of domestic travel and tourism marketing programs, cross-promotions, and activities in order to: provide organizations of all sizes unique cooperative opportunities that leverage your marketing dollars most effectively.
As it was already pointed out, international marketing is one of the main objectives for the travel companies. A series of international travel marketing programs was created by different marketing groups to promote their destinations and the travel industry of a country as a whole.
Travel industry association of America has designed an international Pow Wow. It is the marketing project taking place each time in different region of the United States.
The earliest will take place in Orlando, Florida from May 6 - till May 10, 2006. There will be five days of up to 44 intensive pre-scheduled, computer-generated business appointments,
networking with thousands of fellow travel organizations across the industry, certainly business negotiations with 1,500 International and Domestic Buyers. The program also consists of unique news coverage for USA travel destinations and products, performances of high profile speakers, exciting evening events and even sightseeing Tours.

Let us have more detailed view of TIA's International Pow Wow. First, it is not a typical trade show. TIA's International Pow Wow is the travel industry's premier international marketplace and is the largest generator of Visit USA travel. International Pow Wow's success is dependent on the quality and quantity of International and Domestic Buyers that it attracts. International and Domestic Buyer delegates are invited to participate in the International Pow Wow. They are pre-qualified based on their proven capability to sell the USA as a travel destination. All this is made with input from both the International Advisory Committees and U.S. Suppliers.
International Pow Wow, performed by Travel Industry Association is also an opportunity for unique news coverage for USA travel destinations and products. In 2005 there were over 450 travel journalists from over 40 countries participated.
One more ability of the International Pow Wow is to arrange business appointments. In order to help each attending firm make the most of their time, they are pre-scheduled in advance by a computer program based on International and Domestic Buyer and U.S. Supplier requests.
The International Pow Wow is a brilliant step in travel and tourism marketing. But it is not the only example of such inventions. Travel and marketing are non-dividing units.
