Many countries that are located on the coast can suggest you an alternative to an ordinary zoo, it's Marine park - a park, that consists of the sea area (or sometimes a lake) protected for recreational use. Most marine parks are designated by governments, and organized like watery national parks, but there are also private marine parks. Public aquaria- is a window to an underwater world that, however fascinating, is remote and inaccessible for most people. By providing glimpses of life that teems below the surface of the water, whether on a coral reef or in a local stream, an aquarium informs and educates. In particular, an aquarium can help its visitors understand the diversity and fragility of the living communities that lie, largely unseen, over two thirds of the planet. Some marine parks are quite large; the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in Australia is the largest, at 350,000 sq km.
If you visit England, don't miss a possibility to visit Rare Breed Centres. What can you see here? Also woodland paths and ponds. A fun as well as an educational day out.

Nearly all large cities of the world have Zoos. Modern zoos are very dynamic, and are always breeding animals, promoting conservation, and building new exhibits. Zoos vary in size and quality-from drive-through parks to small roadside menageries with concrete slabs and iron bars. Birds' wings may be clipped so that they cannot fly, and many animals who live in large herds or family groups in nature are kept alone or in small groups. Natural hunting and mating behaviors are virtually eliminated by regulated feeding and breeding regimens. Most modern zoos keep animals in enclosures that attempt to replicate their natural habitats. Many zoos now have special buildings for nocturnal animals, with dim red lighting during the day, so the animals will be active when visitors are there, and bright lights at night to ensure that they sleep.A pettting zoo features a combination of domestic animals and some wild species that are docile enough to touch and feed. These zoos are extremely popular with small children.
