The Transit Club in Chicago -- Words Alone Don't Do it Justice!

Added: 03/10/2006

The Transit nightclub is one of Chicago's largest clubs, and on its way to being one of the longest running. It is in Chicago's near river west district amidst the industrial district, also shared by one of the best restaurant and clubbing districts. You'll dance; you'll meet people, laugh and never want to leave. If you're looking for a cool dance club, Transit is a great choice.

Transit Nightclub in Chicago was just named the number one Nightclub in Chicago, in the April 2005 issue of Playboy Magazine. Two VIP rooms and a long line outside on the weekends making it a true Chicago nightclub. Since it's located off the beaten path, parking won't be too much of a problem. Immediately in the area are some of the most contemporary, and modern restaurants you can eat at, like Blue Point and N9ne, as well as the hottest clubs, like Rive Gauche, Estate, Chromium, and the ever-missed The Drink.

Driving to Transit for the first time gives a real taste of Chicago culture, running parallel and directly underneath the infamous EL train. Once you get through the foyer, the sizable space opens up into the main room, a large oval dance floor, surrounded by a long bar and a DJ spinning house, techno, dance or contemporary music. The look is streamlined and arty, filled with candles to create a sultry ambiance.

The main room has three bars; upper platform has another bar with more seating. Music in the main room is a bit loud for normal conversation. The back room is cool-retro with a variety of progressive tunes. Right off the main area is the brand new Marquee room, which boasts one of the coolest full-length mirrors on the circuit. Wrapped in flamboyant hieroglyphics, the mirror deepens the impact of the dimly lit dancing space. Enriched by dark, cherry oak banquettes, crimson drapery and slightly raised dance-pods, the Marquee Room reinvigorates Transit dance club. Also off the main room is the Light Bar, a small room with a funky black and white glowing bar.

The staff at Transit is your typical crew that most people are used to. So just be careful if you ask for something. Besides the staff, Transit is one great club to party at. With tons of space to tour around and mingle, state of the art lights, A-list DJ guests, Chicago's top residents, plush VIP rooms, and bars around every corner, this is the place to be. Follow the spiraling staircase up to the Mezzanine room and on the way you'll come across yet another bar on the landing. The Mezzanine has thick, velvet stools, more tables lined with candles, and another bar. Drinks are strong, the bartenders are cool, and the music is usually good.

Thursdays and Saturdays are the best nights to be at Transit. Thursdays offer a city 'local' crowd and some true house music with a weekly party hosted by Brad Altman, Fridays are hosted by V5 for a Salsa night, and Saturdays offer special events including Icandy events and special guest DJ's. Chicago's longest running Saturday Night Party. FLO Saturdays at Transit are the busiest and most compelling Saturday Night in all of Chicago. The Friday and Saturday crowd basically necessitates some time in line. Special events are best here at Transit, like their Halloween, Fourth of July, and New Years parties. Cover is usually between $10-20, and Transit is only open from Thursday through Saturday.

Mix and mingle in the high energy setting of Transit's three music environments featuring Hip-Hop, House, Reggae and Dance Anthems.
