One of the most renowned show sporting events, the International Historic Motosport Show is held annually, featuring gathering of historic motosport enthusiasts and supporting industries. Since its introduction in the 1980s, the show has grown to a significant sport event, allowing enough space and time to enjoy this wonderful sport in all its disciplines. From accessories to a piece of advice, newcomers to the motosport will be offered here everything they require to get started.
The show features each of its historic disciplines, and showcases rallying, racing, dragsters and trials in addition to motorcycles and short circuit cars from the period of the 1930s-1990s, used for historic motosport. The highlights of the show sport include three live events on the Showground, four major exhibition halls, classic competition motorcycles feature area, prominent auction of memorabilia, cars and motorcycles and International Historic Motorsport Awards Charity Dinner. As of 2005 the number of the show's visitors exceeded 20,000.
From historic karts to rally cars, not to mention the celebrities attending the International Historic Motorsport Show, visitors can enjoy the greatest show sporting event, held round the Stoneleigh showground. In addition, Prestige Sports Events offers two passes to visit a Formula 1 test day at Silverstone Circuit to experience the history of the outstanding sport. For three years in a row the show has taken place at Stoneleigh Park with the number of visitors and exhibitors increasing each year.
New for the 2006 Show are a Classic Kart Racing demonstration and a live indoor Pre 65 Motorcycle Trial, in addition to the Auto Test demonstration and the Group B Rally Car, proved successful at past shows. Located one mile from the show site, the Chesford Grange Hotel hosts the Charity Dinner and Historic Motorsport Awards Presentation, which occurs on the Saturday night. The dinner is seen is a great chance to dine with such celebrities and guests of honor as Russell Brookes, Tony Fall, Andrew Cowan, Giacomo Agostini, Vic Elford, Mick Grant, Tony Mason, David Richards and more.
Featured on display of the show are a variety of legendary rally and racing cars with the leading display being Stirling Moss's Monaco winning Lotus 18. In 2005 major introductions to the great show sport event were Classic Competition Motorcycles and Off Road Motorcycles, the innovation being supported by the National Motorcycle Museum and the ACU. In 2006 the event will invite more continental show organizers along with the major UK based racing series and trials organizers.
As one of the most important events of the Show, Historic Motorsport Auction will be open for viewing in Avon Lounge and Stareton Halls, involving nearly 90 vehicles. Other highlights include Charity Evening, supported by LARA and BEN and held at the Chesford Grange Hotel. To ensure a more complete weekend, three Live Events will take place at the Show, all of which are included in the entry ticket price.
