The Philadelphia Nightclub Transit is Waiting for you at Sundown

Added: 03/10/2006

The Transit Nightclub in Philadelphia is an all-ages facility, open nightly until 3:20 am. It's a place for those who are into dance music and the subsequent nightlife and club culture that go with it, those who like to see people have great experience - when everything about dance music finally makes sense. The Philadelphia nightclub Transit is waiting for you when the sun goes down and most of your neighbors have gone to bed.

Philadelphia nightclub Transit, the sleek throwback to the era of the super club is frequented by a stylish, retro crowd that enjoys a stiff martini and knows how to swing its way around a dance floor. There's live music (big band, Latin and swing) Tuesday-Sunday. Latin dance lessons are given on Thursday at 9; Sunday at 8 is the time for beginners to learn how to swing.

Transit is a popular multi-level addition to the Philly after-hours scene. The theme centers on the commute-driving subway - but refrains from being tacky. The strobe lights, alcohol, and sudden lightening of your wallet may make you dizzy. Different crowds come with different themed nights but, if a party isn't planned for that night, the club will be closed.

The building is a cavernous old bank with three floors, six bars and three dance floors. Transit club lets the party live on past the normal 2am closing time. The club offers a breadth of specialty nights, ranging from all-nighters with deep house to black lipstick nights where Goth rules to the three-floor Making Time neosoul/Britpop/indie extravaganzas.

Transit's strengths lie in top flight DJs and live bands with the endurance to keep going after-hours. Philadelphia nightclub Transit offers loads of space and the specialty nights change regularly, so check ahead. Regardless, Transit is always packed to the rafters, and even if you're not shelling out for bottle service, the drink prices are still pretty steep. DJs are spread out around the Philadelphia nightclub Transit spinning different styles and club goers of every stripe line around the block, so the place turns into a hot spot of sights and sounds on any given night.

The popularity of the club has its drawbacks: Drinks, particularly those from the bars' upper echelons, can be pricey, and the more popular nights can result in the main floor being so crowded that movement can only occur via crowd-surfing.

Transit is definitely a unique club in one of the most up and coming nightlife districts in Philadelphia. Thursday nights at Transit are hot. The crowd is live and the music is good. You can move around the floors, and get a different vibe. The door charges are decent but the drinks are expensive as always. And it's mostly an African American crowd on Thursdays.

Philadelphia nightclub Transit still seems to be going strong, especially on Saturdays. The crowd is very diverse but they all are very into the music. As you go to one of the three different floors you feel like you're going to a totally different club with different music and crowd. So you never have to be confined in one area at Transit. There is variety of music being played at the same time and that's really hot. The variety of music styles at the club include 80's, Alternative , Dance, Disco, Electro, Electronica, Freestyle, Funk / Soul / R&B, Garage, Hip-Hop, House, Jungle / Drum 'n' Bass, Punk / Industrial, Rock, Techno and Trance.

Make sure you call to see what's happening at the club on Fridays and Saturdays because different events are booked every weekend.
