Jeep is a department of Chrysler Concern, specializing on the production of automobiles of higher practicability. The inventor of jeep automobiles is an American engineer Arthur Herrington. After the First World War, he worked in France, where he studied the problem of creation and production of the vehicles of a higher practicability and experimented together with the company "Marmon Motor" (Indiana State). He created the automobile, which was called jeep (from English abbreviation GP - general purpose). But the fame to jeep was given by the American company Willis.
In the beginning of the Second World War American army was in urgent need of reconnaissance cross-country vehicle and announced the contest among 135 American companies for this vehicle development. Willis also worked out its variant of cross-country vehicle. It was presented to the American administration in 1940, November 11. Ford presented its variant in November 23. Both companies got an offer for 1500 automobiles, but in June of 1941 the government of the USA decided to use the only model, this one of Willis, which was renowned taking into consideration its performance results. The army jeep of Willis made the company successful and world-known. But the company was not able to develop this vehicle line and in the beginning of 60s the company stopped its jeep production which was continued by other firms. In 1963, American Motors Corp. started its launch of cross-country vehicle. They used ford and willis prototype for their work. In 1983 American Motors created new cross-country vehicle, primarily named Jeep Cherokee; 5-dour jeeps of superior first class were sold under the name of Wagoneer. Their peculiar feature was four small lights built one on another. In 1987, American Motors with its popular jeep department entered Chrysler Concern. And in 1997, Chrysler presented its new generation of cross-country vehicle, named Jeep Grand Cherokee in exchange of Grand Wagoneer. 1997 - the year of launch of contemporary generation of Chrysler jeep Wrangler. The last modifications of chrysler jeep Wrangler are more comfortable and of not so aggressive war appearance. 1998 - a presentation of the model chrysler jeep Grand Cherokee of a new generation. In 2000 chrysler jeep commander 2 appeared. The vehicle comprises accumulators and gas equipment, which make the system effective and ecologically clear. The body of the vehicle is made of high-solid plastic based on the unique technology. The instrument panel is equipped with a small internal camera, fixing the driver's face.
