The advantages of the executive programs

Added: 10/14/2005

Although a full-time MBA program from a top business school is the most common choice among those who want to launch their successful business career, there are numbers of alternatives to consider. One of them is an executive program, which is rather beneficial too. The executive programs have appeared along with the changes in economy, when people began to realize that a two-year full-time MBA becomes a break from the job market.

Certainly, full-time MBA studies are considered the most intensive and productive in any country. Although the general MBA program remains the most valuable option today, educational officials continue to develop new graduate business programs.  Along with the decline in economy, people began to find alternatives to the traditional studies and became less inclined to leave their job for taking one of the traditional MBA programs; some of them even left their MBA courses for less expensive and less time-consuming options. The executive programs have become quite handy in this connection and are gaining more and more popularity nowadays.
The executive programs are generally two-year programs, specially elaborated for middle- or upper-level managers with at least seven to eight years of work experience. The executive programs are held on weekends, allowing the students fully maintain their jobs, while earning their MBA degrees. The executive programs are of great demand for a number of reasons.
The first reason is that the curriculum of the executive programs includes the same intensive skills enrichment, as any full-time MBA program does.
The second very important point is a corporate sponsorship. The employers select and send the most prospective managers for the executive programs and, in fact, the corporations pay for their studies. Generally, this is a contractual investment, when the MBA students are expected to stay with the corporation for a certain amount of time, determined by the contract.
The third reason and advantage of the executive programs, which is more vital for the students, is an ability to have an extensive career advance during and after taking their executive courses.
One of the executive program varieties is the global MBA, which is an executive level MBA program, lasting for one or two years and admitting middle- and upper-level managers from all over the world to participate in the program. This program focuses on the skill refinement and team- and leadership- building work along with the teaching of global content and the sharing of global experience. As the executive program does, the global MBA also requires a sponsorship of all the participants.
Along with the advantages of the executive programs, there are several points you should consider before starting your studies. If you are going to choose an executive MBA program for your skills improving, degree earning and career growth, you should make assured in your ability to combine your work with the tight and intensive study schedule, and the volume of educational and research work you are supposed to conduct. Moreover, you should think over the prospective of further cooperation with your employer, as it is your corporation, which will sponsor all the studies. You should be convinced in your ability to stay with the corporation as long as it is demanded by the contract, as there can be new and more tempting offers. If your sponsor is well reliable, the executive program is worth taking.
