Tanning software and time demands.

Added: 03/01/2006

The time demands on salon owners continues to be an upward trend as the market share for the tanning dollar gets fiercely competitive. Having the ability to get remote access to your data in order to keep you in touch with every aspect of your business is of paramount importance these days and should be non-negotiable when choosing a tanning software provider or evaluating your existing product.

Tanning salons deal with somewhat unique scheduling requirements, that often enough become hard to manage on a daily basis. First of all, in order to be profitable, tanning salons need to utilize all tanning equipment at the maximum capacity, minimizing the amount of time tanning beds stay unused. This often prompts customers to schedule their appointments in advance, several recurring sessions in a row, with possible scheduling mistakes and no-shows. Besides, a lot of tanning salons are family owned ventures, with not many on staff to take care of all phone calls from customers calling for appointments. Scheduling becomes a full-time job, especially during spring peak season, but it should not necessarily be so time consuming. Having the ability to get remote access to your data in order to keep you in touch with every aspect of your business is of paramount importance these days and should be  non-negotiable when choosing a tanning software provider or evaluating your existing product.

Like most salon owners, you have probably been on vacation and needed to  report on payroll purposes, or wanted to see how sales have been for that holiday special you are running or on a more crucial note, needed to ensure that your staff was doing the daily back-up of your salon data. Unfortunately, like most salon owners, you had no way of getting that information without driving into the salon or interrupting your staff with a phone call.
Some people use PC Anywhere, VNC or other remote accessing programs in order to "dial into" their local PC at the salon. This is better than nothing, but does come with limitations and functionality issues that interfere with what should be a seamless and fully transparent integration to the operation of the computer at the salon. If your employees cannot process a sale because you have taken over control of the computer to run a report then you have the wrong tanning software solution. Another disadvantage of these remote access programs is that when you want to print something you will be printing to your local printer at the salon and not the one where you are working.
Your tanning software should offer you the ability to retrieve, modify and enter data in your computer without  physically being in the salon. Even more critical than these conveniences, a scheduled automatic backup task that transmits your data to an off site computer needs to be a standard feature in your tanning software solution.
SunTouch Plus and SalonTouch are the tanning industry's number one recommended programs by Manufacturers and Distributors and  their programs are used by North America's largest tanning franchise.
To put it simply, the programs just make it simple to run your tanning salon, hair salon,  beauty salon or day spa.  Their tanning software programs allow you to interface with industry timers, interact with POS equipment, manage employees, create appointments and so much more.  You can  sell anything from tanning lotion and tan maximizer to shampoos to your own custom configured services and their programs are designed so you can easily use a touchscreen monitor to quickly handle high traffic volumes and add that  "touch" of elegance to your salon.
So whether you own a single salon or multiple salons, these products are the products of choice for Tanning Salons, Hair Salons, Beauty Salons,  and Day Spas.
