Take a trip to the pioneer days of Disneyland Frontierland

The land of cowboys and Indians and of forts in the unexplored wilderness, Frontierland was created to suggest the American west in the middle of the 19th century, where the rivers still run free and anyone's dream can turn to gold. The adventure is designed to give you the feeling of having lived during America's pioneer days.
Frontierland was one of Disneyland's five original themed lands. It opened with the rest of the park on July 17th, 1955. Disneyland Frontierland is the old West brought back to life as a wonderful river flows along its dusty banks lined with tumbleweeds, rattlesnakes and cactus. This land recreates the setting of pioneer days along the American frontier. On the horizon, breathtaking buttes and natural rock formations form valleys and plateaus that play home to mineral geysers and caverns far below the earth. Disneyland Frontierland is home to the Pinewood Indians band of animatronic Native Americans, who live on the banks of the Rivers of America. In a place like Frontierland it's easy to see just how simple life was, once upon a time in this town that time forgot. After you've arrived in Thunder Mesa, a bustling town at the height of the gold rush, cool off and survey your territory on a riverboat, before setting off for the great frontier. Before you leave Thunder Mesa on the quest for even wilder frontiers, practice your cowboy competence at the local Rustler Roundup Shootin' Gallery. The haunting music and eerie wails from the mansion on the hill draw you closer, to discover the dark secrets and haunting surprises of Phantom Manor. Pocahontas Indian Village lets children have some carefree fun in the heart of the forest, whilst the laid-back, friendly atmosphere at The Chaparral Theater and Critter Corral is perfect for anyone who's gold rushed out.
Then let Big Thunder Mountain wildest ride take you on a plunging, twisting journey around the legendary peaks of Disneyland Frontierland. Hang on to your hats and glasses; this is truly the wildest ride in the wilderness. After swooping underneath the Rivers of the Far West, you emerge on the island to discover the tunnel is being flooded with water, whilst the second is about to collapse and another is filled with bats. Beware of the goats with their mouths full of TNT, and then there's the explosion in the mine?
other entertainment and attractions at Disneyland Frontierland include Fantasmic!, Mark Twain Riverboat, and Sailing Ship Columbia. Frontierland is also home to the Golden Horseshoe Saloon, a show palace straight out of the Old West.
Be sure not to miss Fantasmic! - Disney's most incredible creation.
Mark Twain Riverboat will take you on a relaxing ride around the Rivers of America. You can also choose to embark on The Sailing Ship Columbia to a calm ride around the Rivers of America. During Fantasmic!, the ship becomes Hook's ship.
There are two different performances that you can see on Golden Horseshoe Stage - Billy Hill and The Hillbillies, and the Golden Horseshoe Variety Show. They are shown on different days and are both well worth seeing.
Once at the Frontierland, one might just sit a spell and sip slowly on a chilled sarsaparilla and listen to the lonely sounds of a harmonica being played across the river in a log cabin or the music of crickets mingling and moving about under the wild Western sky.
