One place that many will want to consider - is the land of Greece. To go there will mean taking a deep immersion into history and the culture of an ancient country. Besides the world-famous Olympic Games, Greece is also a father land of Orthodoxy, philosophy and the theater. History is still an integral part of life in this country, the same as it was in ancient times. Greece tours are attractive not only for the fanciers of ancient Greece history and culture, but for those who like also fine weather, gold beaches, and a warm sea and sparing sun.
Greece is a cradle of the western civilization. This part of the world has a 5,000 year-old history. It is from Greece, we inherited things like "drama," "comedy," "tragedy," and even modern ideas like "democracy," - and the Olympic games.
From this country has also come literary works such as Homer, the author of the world-known works, Herodotos - the father of history, the great philosophers, and many others.
Greece is situated on the south-east of Europe (south extremity of Balkan Peninsula and islands of Aegean, Ionian and Mediterranean Seas). Its shores are washed by the Aegean Sea in the east, by the Mediterranean Sea in the South, and by the Ionian Sea in the west. The highest peak is Olympus, which is situated in the north, and stands at a height of 2917 meters. It is in this land that you will find one of the most beautiful corners of the Earth. To this place of unsurpassed beauty, thousands of tourists from all over the world will come the whole year round. Another reason that so many tourists come - is its 1,400 idyllic islands - every one of which is enveloped in its own legend or myth. Most of the coast of Greece is free to visit, the water is clean, and the sheer number of beaches allows for swimming without being crowded by other swimmers. The terrain provides for an alternating landscape of mountains, beaches, and picturesque valleys, channels and bays.
Athens is the capital of Greece, and the cradle of democracy and western civilization, it is the city which is most visited by the tourists. The people of Greece have a very optimistic attitude. They are proud of their Olympic history, of their freshly-restored capital, and mostly of their capability to create something from nothing and to stop at nothing on their way to progress and success. Athens should at all costs be at the tops of all tourist hit parades.
