Some Facts Concerning Hardees Nutrition

Added: 11/08/2005

In 1960, Wilbur Hardee opened his first restaurant in North Carolina. Five months later, he established his first franchise and it didn't take long to for the chain to expand quickly and to win the hearts of millions of Americans. As of 2005, Hardee's operated 1,894 restaurants in 31 states of the United States of America. There are also about 100 restaurants in the countries that make up the Middle East.

Originally, the items on Hardee's first menu included hamburgers, cheeseburgers, soft drinks and coffee. Hardees nutrition was criticized for its low nutritional value and its quality. This pushed the company to improve its food quality and its service. Hardee's started serving the high-quality hamburgers of Carl's Jr.

Hardee's is famous for its biscuits that are made from scratch, which were introduced in 1970. They are considered to be the best choice for breakfast. Their biscuits have 390 calories, which includes 21 grams of fat, 6 grams of saturated fat, and 44 grams of carbohydrates. Other breakfast items include: the Jelly biscuit, Apple Cinnamon, and Raisin biscuit, the Bacon, Eggs, and Cheese biscuit, Sausage biscuit, Ham biscuit, Chicken biscuit, and other biscuits.

Hardee's revenue increased with the induction of the Thickburger. It had 2/3 lbs. of beef and was a pleasure   for people who preferred larger- sized burgers. Hardees commercial featured the Thickburger, comparing it to small-sized burgers at other fast food places. It was so popular that Hardee's made the Monster Thickburger in November, 2004, which surpassed all of the other hamburgers on fast food menus It consisted of two 1/3 pound slabs of Angus beef, three pieces of cheese, four slices of bacon, and mayonnaise on a sesame seed bun and had 1,420 calories, which included 107 grams of fat, and 37 grams of carbohydrates. The introduction of the Thickburger entailed many objections because it was viewed as a "monument to decadence."  If you added soda and fries, the meal would have more calories and fat than people should have daily.  The Center for Nutritional Policy and Promotion recommends that we eat between 1,600 and 2,800 calories depending on our age and our lifestyle. It should be mentioned that prior to the induction of the Thickburger, Hardee's offered five sandwiches containing more than 1,000 calories.

Hardee's offered its ThickBurger just as other fast food places offered salads and other low-calorie foods, trying to deny accusations that their food contributed to the growing rate of obesity and diseases connected with it.  People claim that the Monster Thickburger isn't the problem, if you don't eat it everyday. Besides, Hardees nutrition provides its own low-carbohydrate options, which include:  hash browns, coleslaw, chicken legs, and mashed potatoes. The company plans to introduce a barbequed chicken sandwich that will have 300 calories and 4 grams of fat.

Despite the fact that Hardees nutrition is criticized for contributing to obesity, Hardee's   isn't the only restaurant that serves big-calorie sandwiches. The Double Whopper with Cheese has 1,070 calories, Wendy's Classic Triple has 940 calories, and Subway sells sandwiches that are over 1,000 calories. All of the information concerning Hardees nutrition can be found on its website and you should visit it to make good and healthy choices.
