Practising bullfighting techniques may differs from what tradition you like most. But there are some icons in art of bullfightingm who's technique amazes. For example Manolete would remain nearly motionless. He made fewer steps between passes than any other matador. This was the attitude that defined Manolete and matadors from Córdoba and, at the "moment of truth" when the bull met its death, it led to his being injured 33 times, sometimes seriously. But these injuries never diminished his spirit, nor dampened the respect he had for victory or for his fans. "Manolete" was to be immortalized by that famous gore, instantly transformed into the eternal symbol of the bullfighter.
In this century the innovative techniques of such stars of bullfighting as Juan Belmonte and Manuel Rodríguez "Manolete" have transformed the old way of bullfighting, the best and last flagbearer of which was José Gómez "Joselito", into the modern style of bullfighting, that the audiences expect today. Since "Manolete's" death, in 1947, no fundamental change has occurred in the ways a bull can be fought and dominated. So since then, each matador has implemented the Belmonte and "Monolete" techniques in his or her style of bullfighting to create a "faena" stamped with his or her unique art.
The technique of bullfighting goes on becoming more perfect; every day men are fighting better, more artistically, closer to the bull, with a skill has never been seen before.
Students of bullfighting academies and schools have all the opportunities for practising bullfighting techniques. The usually train in the classic manner; one on one with experienced instructors running the horns. Also there should be extensive video analysis, classes on the culture, history of the fiesta and zoology of the fighting bull. Students have the opportunity to train with guest instructors; both professional matadors and aficionado practicos. Every course culminates in a tienta - a class with livestock and the student's first face to face encounter with the wild. Sometimes students are provided with traveling program where classes are intended to give the fundamentals of training program one can take home with you. Intensive practising bullfighting techniques helps people from all over the world develop into competent amateurs, training in the discipline of the bullfight (toreo de salón) wherever they live.
Excperienced stars of bullfighting claim that bullfighting technique involves a very broad range of resources - almost infinite. Bulls teach you something new every day. First you learn technique by doing mock-bullfighting, talking to knowledgeable people, by watching yourself on video, watching videos of other toreros and watching others in the ring. I don't rely entirely on technique, though. Real toreo technique emerges when you forget about it, when it's a reflex action. In other words, positioning, choosing your ground, small adjustments, etc. all become like walking, like breathing. Art is impossible to produce without practising bullfighting techniques. But to release the artistry, an artist has to forget about technique.
