Typical treats of Portuguese language programs

Added: 11/24/2005

Whatever your reasons for wanting to learn Portuguese, you can find Portuguese language programs which suit you best. The best way to learn Portuguese is to study the language in Portugal or Brazil. If you learn Portuguese in more than one location, you will get used to different accents and therefore be able to speak Portuguese in any situation.

When you decide to start learning a foreign language, the first thing to do is to decide for yourself why you want to learn it. Do you need it for your job or, maybe you often travel to Portuguese speaking countries? You better think this matter over before starting your studies in order not to waste time on learning things you might never have a chance to put into practice.

Before you start learning Portuguese, you have to know, that people speak different dialects of Portuguese  in different parts of the same country. There exist  the Portugal and Brazil versions of the language as well. If you learn Portuguese in more than one location, you will get used to different accents and therefore be  able to speak Portuguese in any situation.

There is a great number and variety of Portuguese language programs all over the world. They are united in language schools in Portugal, Brazil and some other countries, offering quality institutions of your language education. Some are large, some small, but all of them share the same ideas of language teaching, and they are run by people who understand everything about teaching and learning - the teachers themselves.

Whatever your reasons for wanting to learn Portuguese,  you can find Portuguese language programs which fit you best. The best way to learn Portuguese is to study the language in Portugal or Brazil.

You can start your Portuguese language programs at any time of year, at any of the  language schools in Portugal. You can study for just one week, or for a full year.  Portuguese language programs run at a wide range of levels, so you will certainly have a course which is correct  for you.

You can choose a 'Standard' or 'Intensive' Portuguese course of 15 to 30 lessons per week, or else learn Portuguese on a 'special interest' course, such as 'Portuguese and Dance', or 'Portuguese and Cooking'.

A wide range of  websites contain full details of different Portuguese language programs and language schools in Portugal.
At least all  typical Portuguese language programs in Portugal feature:

Standard Portuguese Course of 15 or 20 lessons/week is the most popular of all  Portuguese courses, as it allows you plenty of free time, whilst still being 'intensive' enough to ensure you make rapid progress in your Portuguese.

Intensive Portuguese Course, of 30 lessons/week is an excellent choice if you want to learn as much Portuguese as possible in a short period of time. You can attend this course at a capital city like Lisbon, or study at a coastal location like Faro in Portugal, or Maceio or Salvador da Bahia in Brazil.

Combined Portuguese Courses are an amalgamation of a 'Standard Portuguese Course' and private lessons. If you choose a 'Combined Portuguese Course', you can use the private lessons to concentrate on whatever is most important to you - perhaps preparing for a specific exam, or concentrating on the type of Portuguese that you need for your job. For example, if you want to learn Portuguese, but  the written language is not so important to you, you could use your private lessons to practice spoken Portuguese.

These are just a few  items that typical Portuguese language programs can offer.
