Pan Africanism literally means 'all Africanism'. It is a sociopolitical world-view and a movement, which seeks to join both native Africans and those of the African Diaspora, as a part of a "global African community". In a more global sense, Pan Africanism means the unity of all Black/African descended people worldwide, irrespective of ethnicity, culture or nationality. In addition, Pan Africanism is an educational concept, worked out to give the people of African descent a broad view of the essence of the Pan African Civilization.
The Pan African education concept has started for a good reason. Due to different colonial histories and cultures, it is difficult to promote the cooperation and integration in African countries if there is a lack of knowledge of differences and similarities among these countries, their institutions and their policies. Certainly, African countries have cooperated in sub-regional and regional areas, but their international relations still need much enhancement. The Pan African education concept helps gain African countries' differences, understand national, regional and international movements, and provide systematic knowledge that African people need for their progress and development.
One of the major organizations, involved in many Pan African studies and research, is CEPARRED.
The Panafrican Studies and Research Center in International Relations and Education for Development (CEPARRED) is a non-sectarian, non-governmental, international and private institution, which acquired its legal status in January, 1996. It has its headquarters in Abidjan, Cete d'Ivoire. The organization is involved in many interesting projects, including research and publication, educational workshops and conferences, exemplifying the Pan African movement, the nature of interaction between social movements, people and their social values, and many other significant issues.
The Pan African studies, maintained by the CEPARRED, are aimed at contributing to the social progress in Africa. In the future, the Center plans to offer a Master's degree in the comparative education (a comparison of movements among different nations), international relations and political economy. The CEPARRED provides a short-term training and workshops. It also promotes a regular exchange of knowledge in the comparative education and international relations, and encourages an enhanced understanding of relations among African states and between Africa and the rest of the world, giving the particular attention to the Pan African Civilization.
The Pan African educational concept, maintained by the CEPARRED, aims at training professionals, who will bring their positive experience and competence toward the development of Africa; developing concepts, philosophy and understanding of interaction between the education and regional and international cooperation as well as encourage research and offer a global and systematic understanding of education within the context of national and international interactions among nations.

The Pan African or All African movement and educational concept have started in response to the global cooperation and integration as well as in desire to enhance the development and progress of African countries. African countries have always cooperated on regional and sub-regional levels, but the international cooperation has not gained much success. The Pan African studies are aimed to broaden the knowledge on the African Diaspora as well as connect this knowledge to concepts of international relations and cooperation.
