Ozzfest 2005: farewell to Ozzy2005 was a year of the 10th anniversary of Ozzfest, the biggest rock festival in the world with Ozzy Osbourne as a founder. As expected, the show hit it big having justified all hopes. Ozzy Osbourne was up to the mark, as always. Still, there couldn't but occur some sad news. Truly, for the last time was Ozzy a headliner of the holiday. He announced it when Ozzfest 2005 started storming across the States. Ozzfest will go on heading its way in 2006, with Ozzy Osbourne performances limited to only a few cities. Osbourne says the time for something new has come.
Since the Ozzfest beginning more than five million tickets were sold. People come to this festival from all over the world attracted by a wide range of offers aimed at meeting the slightest demands of all age groups and society strata. Hardly are there many people on the planet not to have heard the name of Ozzy Osbourne. Some don't like the man because of the unusual behavior calling him 'freak', but no one can say that Ozzy Osbourne did nothing for music as a whole and especially metal trend development. Through the Ozzfest existence 125 bands, 238 shows, and over 4 million fans took part in the event, which is certainly a great achievement.
Who could think in 1996 that the festival held in only two cities that moment would become a great worldwide show in 2005? In fact, Ozzfest 2005 turned out one of the mightiest sights of the year. The entire metal world took part in this holiday: from European metal bands like 'The Haunted' and 'Soilwork' to the US 'Tritium' and the like. Renowned bands mingled with beginners, this alliance being natural and harmonious. Who knows: maybe, the today's novices will become the tomorrow's idols bringing their music to millions of hearts and souls.
Ozzfest 2005 had a surprise for the fans of such metal legends as 'Black Sabbath' and 'Iron Maiden', as it was the first time in history they could be seen toured together. The most successful debut of the festival was the performance of a Texas-based band 'A Dozen furies'. Ozzfest lineup for the last year was really amazing: 'Black Sabbath', 'Iron Maiden', and 'Slipknot' performed their music at the main stage. The second stage hosted 'Rob Zombie', 'Mastodon', 'The Haunted', and more.
When you look back to the history of the event you may see who the veritable metal legends are: 'Biohazard', 'Judas Priest', 'Iron Maiden', and 'Slayer' can be called those without any doubt. Their music will definitely be alive forever. The Ozzy Osbourne's festival became a real runway for many bands like 'System Of A Down', 'Linkin Park', 'Incubus', and others.
As usual, Ozzfest 2005 attracted a great many sponsors. They always help fans with the accommodation during the festival and provide assistance in organization of vital hard rock acts. Though Ozzy Osbourne leaves the project, Ozzfest 2005 was not the end of this great tour invented and organized as the largest rock festival in the world. Ozzy's wife Sharon Osbourne will maintain this wonderful tradition, and we may hope to see something even more interesting this year. Rock fans say metal and hard rock will never die, and it's true. The Ozzfest rich history proves it again and again.
