The official trade organization of cruise industry of North America, the Cruise Lines International Association was established in 1975 to promote the benefits of cruising. This club trade organization currently it has 19 North American member cruise lines and more than 16,000 travel agencies, in addition to its partnership with 17,000 affiliated travel agencies to ensure the highest quality of service and sales expertise for vacationers.

The Cruise Lines International Association - better known as CLIA -- is a marketing and promotion organization, comprised of nineteen North American member cruise lines, operating over 150 ships worldwide and more than 16,500 North American travel agencies. Established in 1975 with the aim to promote benefits of cruising, CLIA is the official trade organization of the cruise industry of North America and also collaborates with more than 17,000 affiliated travel agencies.
