The European Union is known for maintaining a great number of significant missions and activities aimed at development, growth, security and cooperation of the European Continent. The EP is also a leading employer of interpreters in the world with three hundred and fifty permanent interpreters, joined by about four hundred free-lancers during peak periods. Interpreting for the European institutions is a hard job. Some of the interpreters perfectly know, use and interpret seven or eight languages.

The first delegation of the European Commission to the USA established its office in Washington and launched the cooperation on steel and coal. The aspiration of the EU for the integration and unification was not understood in the USA for a certain amount of time. Nevertheless today, the USA and EU are two major powers in the world that jointly define their long-term objectives and purposes.
