Knowledge and understanding of international affairs is critical to success in today's changing world. The changes confront not only the government, senior officials and administration, but also public, as the globalization and interconnection affect each aspect of our life, - the multitude of languages we speak in one location, the national diversity of food we eat, the way we dress and the manner we behave. Each member of the World Affairs Councils of America greatly contributes to the community's awareness of global cultures and issues.

In 2005, the Columbus Council educated over one thousand Central Ohio young people through a variety of educational programs. The community educational events attracted over one thousand and two hundred Central Ohioans. During the same year, the Columbus Council introduced several new programs, including the Women in the International Affairs series, the CCWA Young Professionals Network, and the first intergenerational Great Decisions program.
