The Common Foreign & Security Policy (CFSP) was developed in response to global and regional conflicts, insecurity, crises and challenges that Europe faces today. It was established as the second of three pillars of the European Union in 1993 as to define, implement and cover all areas of foreign and security policy. The activities of the CFSP cover such significant areas as Civilian Crisis Management, Non-proliferation and Disarmament, and Conflict Prevention.
