Implemented in January 1994, the North American Free Trade Agreement or NAFTA, commonly referred to as NAFTA, is a trade agreement among the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and is used in reference to the trading bloc of North American countries. NAFTA was an expansion of the Canada - US Free Trade Agreement of 1989. However, unlike the European Union it doesn't create law superior to the national law. The North American Free Trade Agreement was implemented in 1994 and is believed to have brought rising standards of living and economic growth to the people of its member countries, namely the United States, Canada and Mexico.
