North Carolina's is sometimes nicknamed the "Variety Vacationland." The reason why is because there are the mountains, the foothills, and the coast all in one state. North Carolina is a place you need to stay at least four days to an entire week to see everything. The state is simply beautiful, especially up in the mountains and spreading in to Tennessee.
North Carolina nightlife is the most vibrant in the cities of Charlotte, Raleigh and Wilmington. There are several venues for live music and other spots to visit in the evening, available every day of the week.
Raleigh has a lot to offer for everyone. There are always cultural events or family functions to attend and plenty of places to eat, shop and get entertained.
Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the 20th most populous in the United States. North Carolina nightlife finds its best expression in Charlotte. There are so many different clubs and pubs to choose from that it's difficult to go to the same one twice.
If you enjoy good live music and want some Charlotte tips while in town, check out "The Visulite". They have a wide range of music on display practically every night of the week. It's a fairly cozy venue and the size is just right for really seeing and really hearing an artist perform. The Double Door is the place to go for good blues in Charlotte. Some great acts, including Eric Clapton, have performed at this little dive, but you're more likely to find some local talent and an unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere. Charlotte's oldest live music establishment, the Double Door Inn, has been bringing in local, regional, and national acts since its doors opened on December 22, 1973.
The Double Door Inn has gained national recognition one of the best North Carolina nightlife venues for bringing in the best in blues artists. The Double Door Inn also has the distinction of bringing the first reggae and zydeco acts to Charlotte. The "Americana Showcase" every Tuesday also has made its mark on the music scene. Such acts as Dave Alvin, the Blazers, Alejandro Escovedo, Bill Kirchen, Deke Dickerson and others all have thrilled the Tuesday night audiences. Funky Night Life is mainly intended for the younger crowd. This is more a place for folks to make plans for what to do when they leave there.
Sir Edmund Halley's is a neighborhood pub. The pub has great food and it's also a great place to come and just have a drink or two. If you're looking for a good hangout and not the typical college student-on-break party traps, then check this place out. They usually have about eight beers on tap.
RiRa Irish Pub is also a great North Carolina nightlife venue. This original Irish Pub in Charlotte remains a popular after-work hangout for Uptown workers. The owners brought everything in the place from Ireland, ensuring an authentic Irish Pub atmosphere. On Monday nights, they have an open mike, for anyone willing to sing some Irish songs.
Just come as you are for some good nightlife entertainment experience in Charlotte and other cities in the beautiful state of North Carolina.
