New York City nightlife is the best in the world, or so some clubbers believe. Almost all clubs charge a cover, which can range from $5-$15 weeknights and up to $30 on the weekend. Be prepared to pay. Even 16 year olds can get into some of these hot spots, at least on certain nights.
New York City nightlife has seen virtually every band that steps foot in the United States.  The City's rock clubs have a history of discovering and showcasing new acts that played some dates in or around New York City. So head out to some popular music venues. New York City is well known for its many comedy clubs. And if it's late at night and you're hungry, you can count on the late night dining places to feed you anytime of day. If you prefer to sport those lovely bowling shoes for an evening, there are several alleys In New York that are open into the wee hours. If you so desire, you can shoot pool like a pro at one of many Pool Halls.

New York City nightlife is probably best known for its clubs and bars.
Spirit, the ambitious nightclub situated in the former Twilo and Sound Factory space, bills itself as a multilevel entertainment venue, restaurant, and holistic center for the mind, body, and soul. The main floor is the "body" zone, with a 10,000 square-foot dance floor and raised stage that showcases acrobatic, dance, and other performances under a huge convex screen. The second floor comprises the "mind", a restaurant serving organic and vegetarian dishes with an herbal bar that serves a drink and "soul" a New Age lounge. However, every amenity has a hefty price tag on top of the club's already hefty admission.

Multi-millionaire athletes flock to the 40/40 Club, Jay-Z's ultra-upscale sports lounge with enormous plasma and projection TVs, modern leather eggcup chairs suspended from the ceiling, and three private rooms. Named after the exclusive coterie of baseball players who can claim both 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in one season, the club is the venue of choice for big-name draft parties and other events. A huge list of star athletes and other celebrities have made this their 'local' sports bar.

Leave it to a neighborhood as fashion conscious as SoHo to boast a kicky joint like Circa Tabac. With an Art Deco-inspired interior reminiscent of the roaring '20s this place is one of only a handful of bars in NYC to still allow smoking. Great place to go if you want to drink a martini and smoke a cigar and spend the night talking about the stock market!

Among other spots New York City nightlife is Coyote Ugly Saloon. This popular hole-in-the-wall, located between 9th and 10th Streets, is worth checking out on a Friday or Saturday night.

You might also want to check out Mica Bar, the hipster's Mecca on the Middle Eastside. It has Asian-themed decor that includes red and gold bonsais and cushioned benches.
New York City nightlife entertainment really has something to offer to everyone.
