Nanjing Holidays is a trip to ancient and modern China

Nanjing is one of the six ancient metropolises of China has a history of over 2400 tears and is well known as the capitals of ten dynasties. The city is located in the middle and lower reaches on the Yangtze River and has some rich tourism resources. It also stages special activities at scenic spots such as Plum Blossom Hill, Sun Yat sen's Mausoleum and other spots. Like Xuanwu Lake.

Nanjing is the capital of the Jiangsu Province and the former capital of ten ancient dynasties is a city that is full of antiquity in China. It was first settled some 6000 years ago and it has served as a capital for many Chinese rulers from the time of the first through the fifteenth century. Hence, the city got the name The Metropolis of Ten Dynasties. The city's strategic position is situated on the southern bank of the Chang Jiang River and on the juncture close to the Great Canal; this has made it a transport hub for centuries. This position has given a greater boost by the opening of the first bridge over the lower Chinagjiang River. This becomes the first direct rail and road links between Shanghai and Beijing.

With the great historical background, Nanjing is now a famous city of tourism in China. The ten kilometers long Qinhuai River, especially the Confucius Temple, has been one of the most thriving areas of the city.

It is amazing to think that each brick of the wall is stamped with its place of origin, the building's overseer, and the brick maker's names.

Originally built as a learning place for nobles, The Heaven's Dynasty Palace is another great attraction to enjoy during the Nanjing holidays because it houses a Confucius Temple and is currently used for a variety of purposes, one thing being the performances of the Chinese opera.

A bell tower that was built in 1889 called Zhou Lou houses a bell, and a castle that was around 1338. The adjacent tearoom and garden are opened in the evenings for a great breath of fresh air and a cup of tea.

Nanjing also boots a selection of beautiful parks and gardens. Zhiwu Yuan is the sprawling local botanical gardens with an amazing collection of over 3000 species, including unique Chinese medical plants and bonsai exhibitions. West of the Zhongshan Ling is the peaceful Ming Xialing Fengjingqu Park with a swimming lake that is perfect for a dip on a hot afternoon.

Also known as the Balmy Garden, XuYuan Park was the site of the royal residence during the Ming Dynasty. Zhongshangling Yingyue Tai is where you can drift away on the lawn under the trees while listening to classical music.

The city of Nanjing is home to more than twenty colleges and universities and Nanjing University ranks as one of the top five colleges in China constantly.
