Low fat cheese: Norwegian traditions of cooking

People cannot live without food - it is obvious and should not be proved with numerous scientific experiments. Nevertheless, it does not mean that you must eat all you see at supermarkets. Find some new recipes, groceries and foodstuff. There are a lot of different plants in the world, which you can use in your recipes. And though it seems loke all dishes have been found already, it is far from being true. And you can find and try to cook a deal of delicious courses and then organize your own cafe with exotic dishes, which, perhaps, will gain popularity among people not only in your town, but in the country and the whole world.

For many a century there were not refrigerators.  People cooked and ate the very that food they could keep unspoiled for a long time.  In Norway that was flat bread, dry salted meat and low fat cheese known as Gammelost.  This cheese had hard texture and fat content of only 5%.  Till now Norwegians keep making their cheese of goat's milk and, maybe, the very this reason guarantees getting low fat cheese.  Gammelost literally means the 'old cheese' and these words cannot provoke a surprise if look through its history.  This Norway cheese will certainly become a favorite for those who prefer Brie, Camembert, Roquefort and Blue cheese - the flavor of all these sorts is quite similar. 

Except low fat cheese, people in Norway are glorified with their ability to cook fish.  They like this kind of food, because it  is useful and has, indeed, a wonderful flavor. You can prove it yourself.  Just for this only reason you should visit this splendid country.  In the early 18th century people began to travel.  And what did they first taste in Norway?  That was the 'Norwegian Salmon'.  This dish always attracted much recognition and rapture. Since then salmon became a part of the national cuisine.

If you are going to Norway don't forget to take a notebook, because you will definitely find some recipes, which you will instantly fall in love with. So, you will be able to write them down and thus, continue to enjoy the life in all its beauty and the food of this country in particular.  Norwegians also like eating such fish as cod.  They prefer it as fresh as possible.  With the development of refrigeration methods other Europeans can also taste this fish from the Norwegian Sea.  Now Norwegian cookers can surprise you with definitely new and amazing dishes made of well-known and rather usual ingredients.

Furthermore, people all over the globe know how milk is popular in our time.  And the inhabitants of Norway know very well how to use it.  For a long time milk has been used for cooking porridge and other dishes, now several kinds of cheese, including low fat cheese Gammelost, are made of it.  In the days of barter economy people in Norway made butter of milk, and it had a very good quality and perfect specifications.  Nowadays, it decorates the wedding tables in a view of pyramidal sculptures. It looks very nice and is very delicate in taste.

In general, this north country has wonderful rich cooking history.  And if you have even the smallest opportunity to visit Norway go for it without any doubts.  You will be pleasured and satisfied.  Besides, you will also have a wonderful chance to give some of your own recipes to the Norwegian cookers, and no doubt they will be glad to touch your culture and show you theirs.  In the end, you will get not only a chance of a memorable rest, but also an informative trip, which will give you a lot of emotions.
