LOT Polish is one of the oldest airlines in Poland

Added: 01/21/2006

Poland is a bridge between the East and West. Poland remains reasonably cheap and safe, with hospitable people who welcome visitors. You can chose traveling by LOT company, which is one of the oldest and know airlines in Poland. For going to Poland you need a valid passport with a visa. although U.S. citizens do not need entry visas. If you are planning to come to Poland it is advisable to make hotel reservations in advance.

For centuries, Poland has been a bridge between the East and West. Set in the heart of Europe, Poland is a multifaceted country where the capital and medieval towns are trawled by contemporary city slickers, and where horse-drawn carts negotiate country lanes, untouched by progress.

Poland remains reasonably cheap and safe, with hospitable people who welcome visitors. Over the past decade, it has developed into a modern, vibrant and progressive state, yet at the same time it maintains its traditional culture. It's a fascinating destination and now is a good time to go.

If you are going traveling to Poland by plane you can choose LOT Polish Airlines. LOT Polish Airlines, a company known in many countries worldwide, was established almost 75 years ago.  LOT Polish Airlines is one of the oldest airlines - has come a long way since its first aircraft, Junkers, designed. In 2002 LOT Polish Airlines carried over 3,3 million passengers, successfully competing with other airlines in respect of modern equipment, convenience of connections and the quality of service. Its emblem, a stylized crane, is recognised almost everywhere as the symbol of the Polish flag carrier. Poland maintains regular connections with almost all the capital cities of Europe. LOT Polish Airlines, the country's main airline, offers the only non-stop flights to Warsaw from its North American gateways: JFK, Newark, Chicago, Toronto and Montreal.

When traveling to Poland, a valid passport with a visa is generally required, although U.S. citizens do not need entry visas. A visa is easily obtained at the Polish Embassy in the country of residence. It is generally issued for a period of three months, for one, two or multiple entry. Visas are also obtainable on the Polish border upon arrival ( in exceptional cases). However, bilateral agreements allow the citizens of the USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Denmark, the Benelux countries, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Spain, Portugal, and Greece to move freely in and out of Poland without visas for up to three months. For stays exceeding three months it is necessary to obtain an extension of the visa and/or permission to prolong the visit. Persons planning to work in Poland must also obtain a work promise issued by appropriate local executive authorities (which may be used as grounds for prolonging the visa).

When planning to come to Poland it is advisable to make hotel reservations in advance. The number of available hotel rooms of a superior standard is below demand. Settling bills at the leading hotels and most of the better restaurants and shops may be done by credit cards. However, most gas stations and railway stations usually do not honor credit cards. When paying the bill at a restaurant, it is customary to give a 10% gratuity.

Even if the availability of apartments and office space is limited, one can find and rent acceptable premises in a comparatively short time through specialized agencies. Lease agreements are similar to those in other countries; all related expenses are covered by the lessee.
