Nowadays Jamaica is a most popular resort - its splendid nature, rivers and waterfalls, green meadows and thick woods, picturesque bays and golden beaches attract a lot of tourists. They come here not because of comfort and service, but because of a unique relaxing atmosphere. The climate is mild and the sea is warm all year round; there are picturesque mountains, palm-trees and neither venomous insects nor dangerous animals. A real paradise! Jamaica is an entertaining tropical resort, a place of effervescent festivals, exotic cuisine, which is able to combine poignancy, sweetness, spices and delicacy in one dish, and, finally, the unique Jamaican music.

The main resort areas are: Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio, Kingston and Mandeville. The most popular one is the city of Montego Bay, the biggest Jamaican tropical resort. It stands on the seaside, famous for its large beaches and absorbing nightlife, there is a great amount of hotels of different categories, snack-bars and restaurants. Those who are fond of spending time in tropicana casino and resorts may be disappointed, as there are hardly any casinos there on Jamaica, but a lot of hotels have gaming-rooms, which replace casinos quite successfully. Spending your vacation in Montego Bay you can enjoy either all means of sea rest or all achievements of urban civilization. Besides, in the city there are a lot of small shops with a wide choice of useful things and souvenirs.

If you are going to visit Jamaica, you  better do it in July, because every year in the end of July a music festival is held - Jamaica's Reggae Sumfest. It is one of the biggest events of the reggae world and a great holiday for those who are fond of this music genre. Jamaica's Reggae Sumfest is held not far from Montego Bay, in a natural reserve near the Caribbean Sea.

The tropical resort Negril is famous for its white sandy beaches and rich nature. Huge hotels have not yet supplanted souvenir shops and have not overshadowed wonderful sunsets of Negril. Various entertainments are available here, such as  aquatic sports, walking-tours to the waterfalls, catamaran trips.

Port-Antonio, situated on the eastern coast of Jamaica, has preserved its charm of a quiet and cosy fishermen village. Besides the sea and the beaches, you can visit caves, waterfalls and the famous Blue Lagoon.

Ocho-Rios is a tropical resort area in the North of Jamaica. Surrounded by tropical gardens, it is celebrated for its Beach of Turtles and coral reefs, and local waterfalls are a  well-known Jamaican sight. Also in the resort area there is an art gallery, golf clubs, discos and comfortable restaurants situated on the seashore.

In April in Jamaica an annual carnival takes place. It is usually held in Montego Bay, Ocho-Rios, Negril, Mandeville, and every region prepares its own fancy-dress balls and shows. Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, also takes part in the carnival. People come here to participate in masquerades or just to watch the colorful show. The carnival is crowned with a parade, which goes from the city to the Liguany Park.
