Interact freely with dolphins and sharks at Discovery Cove Sea World

The Discovery Cove in Orlando is a unique mess of deep blues, lush greens and a vivid palette of other colors, interweaving and complementing each other to set a distinguished tone. The Discovery Cove Sea World is an opportunity to interact with the beloved marine animals, resulted from SeaWorld's thirty five years of experience with the marine life. This is a definitely new experience of the close interrelation between a man and a marine animal, interactive education and ultimate enjoyment and entertainment.

The major representatives of the Discovery Cove Sea World are bottlenose dolphins, clever and playful sea animals. Adult Bottlenose dolphins are 8-10 ft.(2.5-3 m) and 300-650 lb. (136-295 kg)on average, while males may be a little bit larger than females. They eat a wide variety of fish, squid, and crustaceans. Dolphins are extremely social animals and communicate through squeaks, grunts, moans and trilling sounds. They also send messages through body language by leaping, breaching (leaping out of the water and landing on their side) and beating their tails against the water.

At the Discovery Cove Sea World, the dolphin experience starts with a brief familiarization through an informative video and trainer talk. Guests learn dolphin features and how trainers use hand signals and positive reinforcement to interact and communicate with these amazing animals.
The other inhabitants of the Discovery Cove Sea World are stingrays, thousands of tropical fish, barracudas and sharks.

In the Ray Lagoon, a quiet, protected area, the guests snorkel, wade and play with hundreds of southern and cow nose rays, rather hospitable marine animals that grow up to 4 feet in diameter. Swimmers will also snorkel in a short distance off barracudas and sharks, fierce predators that safely accommodate behind clear partitions.

Multicolored clouds of tropical fish inhabit a spectacular Coral Reef. Here you can encounter bright-colored angelfish and tender butterfly fish, silvery jacks and black-and-white striped spadefish and more than seventy five other species.

A variety of admission packages and all-inclusive options at the Discovery Cove Sea World allow the guests to spend their day definitely as they expect. The Sea World welcomes guests of all ages, though the visitors must be at least six years old to swim with dolphins. There are no Discovery Cove tickets, as there are advanced reservations, giving you a confirmation number.


Generally, there are two types of daily admission packages and a special "Trainer for a Day" package. The all-inclusive packages are for those, who want to have a complete fun at the Discovery Cove, the dolphin-swim experience included. The Non-Dolphin Swim packages are created for children aged three-five and for those, who are not interested in the dolphin-swim experience. The average price for all-inclusive packages ranges from two hundred and twenty nine dollars up to two hundred and seventy nine, while the Non-Dolphin Swim Packages are from one hundred and twenty nine up to one hundred and seventy nine dollars. The "Trainer for a Day" package includes an enhanced dolphin interaction and behind-the-scenes feeding and training experiences at three hundred and ninety nine dollars up to four hundred and nineteen. All packages contain a free self-parking; a freshly prepared meal; a use of a mask, snorkel, swim vest, towels, lockers, fins and sunscreen, as well as an admission to SeaWorld Orlando for seven consecutive days.

The Discovery Cove is located adjacent to SeaWorld Orlando at the intersection of Interstate 4 and FL 528 (the Bee Line Expressway) and is only ten minutes south of downtown Orlando and fifteen minutes from the Orlando International Airport. The official opening hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Recently, new evening packages were added to allow the guests evening animal interactions, entertainment and meals.
