Can you imagine the situation when you come back from vacations and tell your friends that you have not been to New York nightclubs? If they tell you, "Shame on", you will be lucky. You should follow one rule that is valid for most New York nightclubs: if you want to be let in, know beforehand the dress code. There some general rules for a nightclub dress code. Be careful with drinks. And one more thing, do not be rude to people around you (although sometimes they may behave not in a proper way) and do not forget to dance!
Those who are in New York for the first time should experience new york nightclubs. Can you imagine the situation when you come back from vacations and tell your friends that you have not been to New York nightclubs? If they tell you, "Shame on", you will be lucky.
New york nightclubs vary in the public, music (disco, hip hop, house, R&B, etc.), indoor style, drinks, menu, and entrance cost.
You should follow one rule that is valid for most new york nightclubs : if you want to be let in, know beforehand the dress code. There some general rules for a nightclub dress code. If you are going to a trendy, posh nightclub, wear a nice pair of pants, a classy shirt and dressy shoes. You are not going to the mall so don't wear jeans, t-shirts, shorts, flip flops or rubber shoes. If you are going with friends, make sure that they too know how to dress up. Because if one gets into trouble for not knowing or following the rules, chances are your whole group will suffer for it.
Be careful with drinks. This rule especially refers to the USA. Although alcohol policy differs from state to state, you should better not over drink in any state. Now as you are warned about hard drinks I will let you know what drinks are served in the most of clubs in new york. I think you will want to taste something local and among the local drinks that are popular among clubbers are cocktails. One thing that influences on their popularity is the fact that the bartender mixes a drink especially for you. Besides, cocktails are drinks with drama, snappy mixes of sophistication and fun. And tales of how the name came to be are like illusionary cocktails themselves - are blends of fiction and fancy served straight up. Scores of drinks have been mixed and fixed since the word cocktail first came into use in the early 1800s. Only a few have weathered time to become classic cocktails.
I recommend you Manhattan cocktail. Appropriately enough, the Manhattan began at the Manhattan club in New York City in 1874 when Jenny Jerome gave a party for Samuel J. Tilden, the newly elected governor of the state. She asked the bartender to mix a special drink for the occasion, which she named after the club. ms. Jerome went on to become Lady Randolph Churchill, mother of Sir Winston, and the Manhattan went on to become one of the world's most enduring cocktails. This cocktail is made in the following way: in a shaker filled with ice, add 1 1/2 ounce bourbon, 1/4 ounce dry vermouth and a dash of Angostura bitters. Shake, then strain into a glass, garnish with a maraschino cherry or lemon twist.
Without Margarita you night at new york nightclubs will be nothing. Like all classic drinks, the Margarita's origins are shrouded in legend. In most stories, Mexico is its native home; and since the drink is based on the Mexican spirit tequila, it is a likely story. Other legends tell of the margarita first being stirred in Texas, while others place that moment in California. Whatever the setting, the tales remain the same - a beautiful young woman named Margarita; thwarted love; in some versions, a murder; and in all versions, a bartender who creates a drink in her memory. You may follow the bartender mixing this drink for you: combine two ounces tequila, one ounce Cointrean or Triple Sec, 1/2 ounce lemon juice, one ounce lime juice and ice cubes; shake well. Or add crushed ice and blend until slushy. Strain into salt-rimmed glass and serve.
And one more thing, do not be rude to people around you (although sometimes they may behave not in a proper way) and do not forget to dance!
