But its being comparatively young doesn't reflect on the level of education given . The club is one of the largest student outdoor societies in the UK, with the number of memebers about 300.The Club exists to promote the interests of hiking amongst members of the Club and to encourage safe practice and appreciation of the open countryside, and to provide an opportunity for members of the Club to meet and participate in hiking activities together.The Club is run by an elected Exec, which looks after the organisation of trips and chooses routes. But it manages not only by the exec, members, both old and new, of Lancaster University hiking club take the most active part in organizing social events as well. Everyone is welcome to their input into the running of the Club, that`s why there is an interesting social mixture within the LUHC. Members are always kept well informed of the planned club events, through newsletters, an electronic mailing list and the website. The club meets every week in the Faraday Foyer, Lancaster University between 1 and 2pm.
