Traditionally TEFL certificate courses have been offered either as 4-week, intensive courses in a classroom setting or as 100% distance learning. These forms of learning do not always meet everyone's requirements, methods of learning or time availability.
The International TEFL Corporation can see benefits to both forms of study, and in an effort to provide a greater range of options for those, wishing to become TEFL certified, has designed the Combined course.
The combined course unites online and residential course. The course allows you to study the theoretical principles and theories of teaching and language awareness at your own pace and in the comfort of your own home/office, and also gives you the time to absorb the theories of EFL teaching.
Once the online component has been completed, it is then complimented with attendance at one of the training centers for 10 days to gain practical classroom teaching experience. Attendance at one of the training centers then gives you the opportunity to put theory into practice.
The residential component of the combined course is available at the following centers: Phuket (Thailand), Barcelona (Spain) and Rome (Italy). Fees for all combined courses are $1500 USD, including accommodation for the 10 day attendance period. Combined course attendance at the Phuket, Rome or Barcelona training centers is available on the first 10 days of all regular residential course dates.
The online element of the course can take between 2 weeks and 6 months to complete (depending how quickly you want/are able to work through the course) and comes with full online tutor support. Attendance for teaching practice at one of our training centers is for 10 days.
Completion of the combined course results in full TEFL / TESOL certification. Note that this course is only available at the Phuket, Rome and Barcelona training centres and will soon be available at the centre in Bombay, India.
