Added: 12/10/2005

Hatteras company produced its first yacht on March 22, 1960, in the High Point, North Carolina. This boat was named the Knit Wits and had a 41-foot twin cabin, a 14-foot beam and two 275-hp Lincoln V-8s. Within two years, Hatteras premiered the 41 Double Cabin, the first motor fiberglass boat. The used Hatteras boat can be bought for price from 315,000 USD up to 1,499,000 USD.

Hatteras, one of  famous boat making companies, produced its first sportfishing yacht on March 22, 1960, in the town of High Point, North Carolina. Christened the Knit Wits, it was a 41-foot twin cabin sportfisherman with a 14-foot beam and a pair of 275-hp Lincoln V-8s. The response was enthusiastic and the Hatteras legend was born. In a testament to the ruggedness that has become synonymous with Hatteras Yachts, the Knit Wits is still in service today after a fishing career that includes service in the Gulf of Mexico and Panama.
Within two years, Hatteras premiered the 41 Double Cabin, the first motor fiberglass boat and the precursor of its cruising yacht line. Additional sportfishing models quickly followed. It was the first company which has begun to apply fiberglass for manufacture of boats.
The market soon demanded bigger boats, and so the sportfishing Hatteras boats expanded first to 50-foot boats and now up to 90-foot convertibles. Hatteras also began designing and producing a line of cruising yachts that now ranges from 63 to 100 feet in length.
However, some things at Hatteras have not changed. Hatteras boats continue to set the standard for ruggedness and high performance in all waters. Hatteras builds all its boats with a solid fiberglass hull bottom, and only Hatteras warrants its hull for five years a testament to the ruggedness of its boats.
Among Hatteras boats such models as convertible boat Sportfish, launched in 1986, with 60' in length; express boat ACMY, launched in 1975 and 53' in length; sportfishing model  Convertible 53, launched in 1973, 53' in length; yacht fisherman vessel  MY with Pilothouse, launched in 1977, 58' in length;  motor yacht with cockpit Cockpit MY, launched in 1985, 77' in length; express yacht Cockpit Motoryacht, launched in 1985, 80' in length;  motor yacht without cockpit 53 Classic, launched in 1977, 53' in length. All of these Hatteras boats have a twin diesel engine.
Hatteras company makes boats of the following categories: Convertible, Cruisers, Expresses, Flybridge Motor yachts, Motor yachts, Motor yachts with cockpit, Motor yachts without cockpit, Sport Fisherman, Trawlers, Yacht Fisherman and some other. Hatteras boats may be under 25 feet, 25-35 feet and 35+ feet in length. Hatteras also began designing and producing a line of cruising yachts that now ranges from 63 to 100 feet in length.
Many sport fishermen appreciate boats of this company for lightweight  and maneuverability. Many other people also prefer these yachts.
The price of Hatteras boat changes from 315,000 USD for 53 Classic model up to 1,499,000 USD for express  Cockpit Motor yacht. For such prices it is possible to buy used boats of this famous company from the official dealer. The new yacht of this manufacturer, certainly, will be more expensive. In the United States of America lots of Hatteras boats are sold and bought.  These boats get both fishermen, and fans of sea racing. They are, no doubt,  quite good boats.
