A teapot is a device for brewing tea leaves with boiling or hot water, either loose or inside a tea bag. They usually feature an opening on top where water and tea are added, as well as a spout through which tea is poured. Available today are a great number of teapots varying in purpose and design, including the ever-popular ceramic teapot. Thus, stoneware teapots are best suitable for black teas, while such stronger teas as Ceylon and Assam are best brewed in silver, iron or pewter teapots. For lighter teas, like Darjeeling it is generally advisable to use ceramic teapots.
