Bangkok is undoubtedly one of Asia's most exciting cities, and one of the world's largest, promising to reveal to each traveler the wild and untamed mysteries of the east. It may be compared almost only with Singapore.
Bangkok has a hot, tropical climate with daytime temperature reaching the mid-30s throughout the year. November to February is the driest time of year and the most popular with tourists. March, April and May are the hottest months, and the rainy season runs from June to October. During the wet season, short showers are likely during the afternoon, though some days it will rain all day.
For comparison Singapore's climate is mostly hot and humid with average temperatures ranging between 79°F (26°C) and 86° F (30°C) during the day with cooler temperatures at night. The wettest months are between November and January - it is a monsoon period. However, rainfall occurs throughout the year and rainstorms are usually short but heavy. Therefore, Singapore tourist should remember to take an umbrella.
Entry requirements to Thailand are the following: Visas are not required for travel by US, UK, Canadian, Australian and South African Passport holders for periods of 30 days or less (an extension of up to 10 days is possible). For periods longer than 30 days, a visa must be obtained in advance.
Remember, that you should take medical advice at least three weeks before traveling to Thailand. Malaria is a risk outside Bangkok and the major tourist resorts. Most physicians will advise immunization against hepatitis A and typhoid fever. Since January 2005, there has been an increase in reported cases of dengue fever in the south, particularly the area near the border with Malaysia.
Tipping in Thailand is not expected, but is becoming more common. A 10% service charge is added to the bill at most hotels and restaurants. Taxi drivers are not tipped.
Visiting the majority of the cities, especially the capital, you should keep an eye on your passports and credit cards and ensure you do not carry around too much money or jewellery in case not to be left without these stuff.

Bangkok International Airport was officially opened on March 27, 1914. It is an important hub of Asia and the hub of Thai Airways International. In 2004, it was the 14th busiest airport in the world by passenger volume. It is situated 15 miles (24km) north of Bangkok. Bangkok International Airport's intended successor, Suvarnabhumi Airport, has been under construction since 2002 and is currently expected to open in 2006.
