In 1968, Norberto Ferretti, a man with a great love of the sea, and his brother Alessandro, a manager with his feet firmly on the ground, decided to radically upgrade their business. The first model was the legendary "Khamsin", a fishing vessel that was skilfully refitted to become a comfortable, reliable cruiser. This brilliant idea marked the first chapter of a success story that led the Ferretti shipyards to today's status as one of the most prestigious yacht-building Houses in the world. Some years later, the Company took the decision to move up to the construction of larger and more impressive craft: motoryachts. This led to the ideas and designs that would change the market and set the standards worldwide: the stern helm position, the swinging salon windows opening onto the stern deck, the interior passageway from salon to flybridge, and so forth. Highlights of the 1990s were Norberto Ferretti's success in Offshore races, including two victories in the 1994 and 1997 World Championships. Ferretti's success expanded rapidly from the Italian seas to the whole Mediterranean, and then to America and the rest of the world. Proof that the Company was the product of a far-sighted, courageous business vision which has made the Ferretti Group into a great luxury yacht multinational enterprise.
