Lithuania by showing its intention to become the member of European Union guaranteed the significant inflow of foreign investments. It made possible to level up the national hotel industry according to European service standards. Certainly, for today there is a wide range of high quality hotels, but we will try to describe only one of them - Narutis.
By showing its intention to become a member of European Union Lithuania secured itself a significant inflow of foreign investments. It made possible to level up the national hospitality industry according to European service standards. Among a wide selection of hotels that Lithuania has to offer there is one that stands out - it's Narutis. It is situated in the historical center of Vilnius with the University and Signature House (the place where on February 16, 1918 Lithuania claimed its independence) just across the street. The hotel's windows face a busy pedestrian street with charming boutiques and cosy cafes called "Lithuanian Monmartre". The hotel was built in the XVI century and is the oldest one in the city. In 2000 Narutis was awarded the Grand Prix of Ministry of Cultural Affairs in a very special nomination - "for a cultural monument's restoration and adjustment for modern business." To obtain a permission to set up a business in a historicla building in Lithuania it's required to preserve the building's original interior and exterior design. The patio in Narutis has been retained untouched with one exception -a glass roof was built over. It lets the guests have a walk without being disturbed by rain or snow and provides additional ventilation of the building through the roof windows. The hotel is a three-stored building equipped with a panoramic elevator. It has changed a lot since the times of the Soviet Union. The interior is modern and very stylish, but at the same time you feel the Medieval spirit of romance. There are some original murals of late XVI century in some suits and in the hallways. You can see something of that kind only in the Chamber of Vilnius Mayor. Old brick walls and wooden logs are preserved in many rooms. Today, they only have a decorative meaning and blend well with contemporary finishing materials. The position of windows is designed in such a way that while lying in bed you can enjoy a picturesque view of Vilnius cathedrals. The restoration work was designed by the famous French designer Anna Toulouse. She created a light spacious interior and matched it with comfortable French and Lithuanian made furniture, elegant windows and exquisite bed drapery. The finishing work on the swimming pool, sauna and gym is coming to its end. Narutis restaurant is placed in the cellar that is even older than the building itself. The walls are preserved in its original state - the medieval stonework is covered with a special substance to facilitate cleaning. Comfortable furniture, serene classical music and reasonable rates attract holdiday makers and businessmen. The hotel boasts chefs of the highest qualification and meals cooked from organic products purchased at the best local farms. Hotel guests enjoy the convenience of Internet access, e-mail and international telephone connection without leaving their suites, which makes this place so popular among international executives, diplomats and movie stars.
