Added: 12/14/2005

London is the home of the world famous London duck tours. The duck tours have created an exciting adventure for visitors to the capital of England taking in the sights by road and river. No one has ever seen anything like it before on the streets of London, let alone the river. Enjoy a tour of London via road and river in one of the amazing amphibious vehicles.

Opened as London Frog Tours in 2000, London duck tours provide an incredible and unique way to see the sites of London. This is no ordinary London sightseeing tour, as not only do you get a live guided tour of the City of Westminster by road, you also get to take a trip along the River Thames, without ever leaving the comfort of your seat. Duck tours were voted London Family Attraction of the Year 2002 and they still continue remain an exciting adventure appealing to visitors of all ages from all around the world. London duck tours offer unique road and river tours using refurbished World War II amphibious vehicles. The amphibious craft, originally known as 'DUKWS' were first used for the D-Day landings when more than 21,000 were built to take the troops ashore. DUKWs have seen most of their use in WWII and the Korean War. After helicopters were invented the DUKWs usefulness as a supply vehicle was diminished. Today's vehicles bear little resemblance to their military predecessors. An initial fleet of five vehicles have been totally rebuilt to meet the stringent safety regulations. The vehicles have been fitted with the latest environmentally friendly diesel engines. The deluxe refits include ducted heating, comfortable seating for 30 passengers, a public address system and full safety equipment. Painted eye catching bright yellow with a recognizable cartoon logo, the London duck tours fleet is hard to miss, particularly when the amphibious crafts are making their way through the streets of London before launching into the Thames. London duck tours operate 7 days a week and run daily throughout the year - last tour is subject to dusk; tours last about 80 minutes which includes a "splashdown" into the River Thames. Departing from County Hall, the amphibious vehicles drive past famous London landmarks such as Big Ben & The House of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. The excitement of seeing the capital in this novel way is enhanced by an entertaining, humorous commentary by the character tour guides providing a detailed view of London's history, plus fascinating facts and figures about the Duck vehicles themselves. At the end of the day it is the guide who makes the tour, otherwise it would just be a ride. Several crafts are available for hire, you can also arrange your own special duck tour - hire a Duck for Weddings, Children's Parties, Hospitality, Special Events and Educational Tours. These can include special collection and tailor-made tours as well as a treasure hunt, a pick-up and drop-off for an event, or a fun and memorable sightseeing tour of the capital for your out-of-town visitors. Duck boat tours offer a truly incredible way to enjoy the splendid vistas of London they carry you around the heart of the London tourist traps, followed by a short river trip from Vauxhall to Waterloo Bridge and back.
Nothing compares to the thrill of literally driving from the road straight into the River Thames seeing famous sites of London along the way. Enjoy!
